Supporting Newcastle United is not something for the fool hardy or feint of heart. You have to be dedicated, passionate and able to withstand a heap load of crap piled on you on a Saturday afternoon.
For almost the past thirty years I’ve seen some absolute crap performances put in by players who signed for The Toon just for the money. However, there have also been some great highlights – beating Man Utd 5-0, watching Tino Asprilla score a hat-trick against Barcelona, and witnessing a Newcastle side surviving relegation to the old third division.
Undoubtedly the footballing world has changed in the past twenty years – but the ups and downs of supporting Newcastle United continue to amaze and bemuse into the 21st Century. I started this blog back in 2007, and even since then, it’s been a roller coaster ride for supporters of NUFC.
Like any Geordie, I bleed black and white. I long for the day when Newcastle United is known for its on the field actions rather than those off it.
Feel free to follow me on Twitter at HowayTheToon where I am known to rabble-rouse quite frequently.
Howay the Toon!
