After the transfer of Mapou Yanga-M’Biwa, Newcastle United look to add more players to their squad as they aim to avoid the unthinkable – relegation. According to various sources, the club are very close to signing the following players:
- Yoan Gouffran (Striker / Bordeaux)
- Massadio Haidara (Left-back / Nancy)
- Moussa Sissoko (Midfielder / Toulouse)
Gouffran has impressed the Newcastle scouts who have watched him closely after we played Bordeaux in the Europa League. The original bid for Gouffran was said to have been less than Bordeaux’s asking price, but was quickly followed up with another bid that matched the French club’s asking price (closer to £1 million). Gouffran’s Twitter account confirmed the move as he Tweeted the following “I need a new challenge. Tomorrow I’ll be a new player of Newcastle and I’m proud.”
Haidara is a promising left-back who will add competition for Davide Santon. Haidara was also wanted by Roma, but turned down the Italian club in favour of a move to Newcastle. The bid for Haidara is thought to be around the £3 million mark.
Sissoko on the other hand is said to have been a long-time target of Alan Pardew, and the thought was that NUFC would wait until the summer before making a move for the midfielder. With Tiote’s form having dropped off, and with Newcastle’s predicament becoming more desperate by the day, the signing of Sissoko would be a great addition. It is believed that a fee of around the £1 million mark will be enough for the player to join Newcastle this month.
