The player was extremely unhappy about Joe Kinnear mispronouncing his name as ‘insomnia’, and Kinnear responded by saying that it was a move engineered by the player so he could get his way. I think it’s something different though – we’re not giving enough credit to Kinnear. By mispronouncing the players name, he knew it would cause a reaction and get either a new player (Ryan Taylor) and/or some money to spend. If this is the case, well played Joe, but next time let’s do it with Jose Enrique eh?
In other Toon transfer news it looks like Shay Given is one step further to leaving Newcastle United. He has opened discussions with Manchester City and providing they meet the asking price (between 6 – 8 million), he’ll be on his way ‘for a new challenge’.
